Hey there. I'm hoping this book club will fill a gap that's missing in the local book club scene. I really enjoy reading books that are engaging and leave me feeling like I've learned something. I also really enjoy books that help me understand other people and where they are coming from. So I started this book club, which I've named 'People, Places, and Perspectives.' People - personal stories, psychology, sociology, anthropology Places - geography, culture, urban planning Perspectives - how ot …
To teach people how to mediate their health by becoming more aware of the content of their habitual thoughts.
Waking Down in Mutuality (WDM) exists for our mutual awakening and embodying of Infinite Consciousness. We have found that the direct route to this type of awakening lies not in striving to rise above our human tendencies, but in falling totally into them with conscious awareness. This, along with an investigation of Consciousness, and transmission of Being, catalyzes a quantum shift in identity. We find that we are no longer exclusively identified with our finite human self, but have shifted …

Hey everyone, My name is David, and I am 22 year old recent graduate from American University. I am taking a year off school in order to apply to law school for Fall 2012. I wanted to start this group in order to find others out there who like to read non-fiction books that make you think about the world in a different way, books like "Freakonomics," "Predictably Irrational" and "The Tipping Point." There are a bunch out there that I have already read that I would love to discuss, but I am also …
The Great Books Reading Group is not a literature club. It is a discussion group that uses a multidisciplinary approach to learning and exploring the past and present. We are reading from the St. John's College Reading List. As we read foundational texts in the Western tradition, we examine mysticism, history, theology, the earth and physical sciences, mathematics, philosophy and government, as well as art, literature and music.

… And FYI the organizer is an animal lover who has great sympathy for the animal kingdom:) And while philosophy draws on facts and findings compiled by the "humanistic" sciences (sociology, psychology etc.), philosophy is a broader inquiry not restricted by specialist assumptions (including the natural sciences). Hope to see you soon! Feel free to call me with any questions or comments. Tom White 1-240-581-0603

… About Emotional Freedom Techniques EFT or "Tapping" is a modality that combines the principles of the Chinese meridian system with modern psychology. Think of what would result if the Yellow Emperor and Carl Jung procreated (well, kind of). EFT stimulates the body's acupuncture points, however, rather than using needles, light tapping is used. Tapping allows the body’s physical energy system to engage with the mind, helping align the two. Thus, EFT works with our natural ‘mind-body’ connection – …

I believe that in the field of professional counseling, you can't have too much support, especially from others who can relate to your experiences. My idea is to have a monthly or bi-monthly group to get together as a sort of peer supervision. I don't want to completely decide at this point what the format of the group will be like. I would rather like to have that as a point of discussion at the first meeting. I am open to having a mixture of sit-down serious supervision sessions and also more …

Discuss a variety of life topics that focus on improving the self, from personal strength to living authentically. We discuss the advice offered in relevant books. We dig beneath the surface, uncovering our vulnerable issues, dreams and desires. We then brainstorm and act on what we have uncovered.

We use cognitive, emotive, and mindfulness techniques woven together to free ourselves from the tyranny of our own stories so that we live closer to how we want to live. See http://awarenesspractice.info for more information.
